Windy Day

We woke up Sunday to a beautifully sunny day. As the day continued, the wind began to pick up. Lady wanted to go outside to play Frisbee, and when you would through it, it would float around rather than come down where she could catch it! Later in the afternoon, the wind picked up. We found out later that the highest gusts were 78 mph winds! Things started to blow into our yard from the neighbors, like Ben's swimming pool.

Jason and I went out with Lady around 3:00 and it was so bad we could not stay outside, for fear of being hit by the berries flying out of our tree. After an hour of watching my trees bend and sway in unnatural ways, the power went out. We have never been in our house without power for more than 10 minutes here in Hilliard, so we assumed it would be right back after a bit. As evening approached, power had not been restored. We played some board games, and listened to our battery operated radio. Around 8:30 the DJ announced that AEP was expecting our power to be out for 3-5 days! YIKES!

J and I had to get ready for work Monday without electricity, which was somewhat of an adventure. We came home to a freezer and fridge full of things that had to be pitched. J talked to his mom, who gave us the report from ONN that we could be without power for 2-3 more days. Trying to be positive, we grilled out a few frozen items that had to be used or pitched, and got ready for a few more days without power! Luckily, power came back to life with a bang around midnight, and our chest freezer was spared. We were also lucky enough not to lose any trees in the storm, but some of our neighbors were not so lucky! Here are some of the photos I took Sunday night.
